What AYI Brings Together
AYI brings together three perspectives that keep one another in balance:
- Ashtanga Yoga as a traditional, intense practice and breath-led moving meditation,
- YogaDoc as a modern, movement-led approach to strength and counter-spiraling myofascial tension,
- Insight as an inquiry into sources, Sanskrit and lived experience. Together, they create a practice that feels rooted, alive and conscious.
Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga Yoga is the breath-led, traditional pillar of the AYI concept: classical, intense and meditative. The softly resonant breath carries you through set practice sequences that unfold like a physical symphony.
Tristhāna is the meditative key: Vinyāsa, Bandha and Dṛṣṭi gather your attention. Breath-led movement, subtle muscular activity, energetic direction, and the focusing of gaze and senses make the practice both sweaty and still: intense in the body, collected in the mind.
- Breath-led. Every movement finds its rhythm in the softly resonant Ujjāyī breath.
- Mysore style. You practice individually within the group, supported by precise hands-on assists.
- Traditional and modern. AYI connects set series with movement physiology, alignment, modern methodology and systematic adaptations for a healthy practice.
How Ashtanga Yoga Becomes Personal
The set sequence creates freedom. As paradoxical as it may sound at first, you learn more and more clearly how to adapt each movement to your own body. In the traditional Mysore-style setting, you decide the pace, intensity and length of your practice.
This creates a deeply personal yoga practice: from therapeutic and meditative to powerful and acrobatic. Beginners can enter safely and individually; experienced practitioners find endless room for development.
YogaDoc
YogaDoc is a radically new approach to yoga: modern, movement-led, powerful, versatile and science-informed. The practice often feels like a blend of Pilates, functional training and calisthenics, yet it brings you back to yourself with meditative clarity.
Its motto: out of your head and into your body. As your muscles burn intensely, your awareness becomes concrete. You feel tension, direction, resistance and how balance arises directly in the body.
Through its characteristic exercises for counter-spiraling myofascial tension, you create firm lines of pull around your body. You sense yourself, shape your body, create space in your joints ... and come out feeling as powerful and supple as a python.
YogaDoc offers you the most effective practice for bringing body and mind into shared balance while arriving meditatively within yourself.
YogaDoc Becomes Yoga Therapy
At the same time, YogaDoc opens the door to versatility: Vinyasa, Aerial, Yin, Acro and other forms of yoga, as well as sling training, kettlebells and Indian clubs, become building blocks of a modern yoga practice that makes physical and psychological balance tangible from many angles.
When symptoms or limitations are present, the same scientific approach becomes personal: YogaDoc asks which exercises make the most sense for your specific concern, and connects them into a meditative practice for health, strength and inner balance.
Insight
Insight is AYI's inquiry into yoga: Where do these techniques come from? What do Sanskrit terms really mean? How have texts, traditions and paths of practice evolved?
At AYI, this knowledge does not become dogma; it becomes alive. You explore sources, practice ancient techniques in their original form and examine them critically at the same time. This gives Ashtanga Yoga and YogaDoc depth, language and orientation.
- Understand the sources. Place yoga texts and lines of development in context.
- Experience Sanskrit. Grasp terms, sound and meaning more precisely.
- Reflect on practice. Examine tradition respectfully and translate it into contemporary practice.
