Notes on the forms

The forms follow Whitney’s Sanskrit Grammar. At the end of a word spoken on its own, ḥ represents final s or r; āi and āu appear as ai and au. You can show word accents in the Latin transliteration (IAST). Forms labelled as models follow the formation rules. The game uses the filled cells.

Grammatical compound model after Whitney §352: iy/y or uv/v precede vowel endings, with the accent staying on the stem. Grammarians prefer iy/uv with nominal and y/v with verbal character. This general model shows both series without claiming attestations of each complete word. It also represents the corresponding types in -nī, -krī, -dhī and -pū. The longer feminine singular endings -yai/-yāḥ/-yām and -vai/-vāḥ/-vām are excluded as uncertain in §352a.
